Game Recap

Novi Wildcats Varsity and Salem traded the lead back-and-forth on Wednesday, but eventually Novi Wildcats Varsity prevailed 11-8. Novi Wildcats Varsity took the lead for good in the sixth inning. The game was tied at eight with Novi Wildcats Varsity batting in the bottom of the sixth when Anna Mizerowski singled off of Overaitis, driving in one run.
Novi Wildcats Varsity collected 15 hits and Salem had 12 in the high-scoring affair
Salem took an early lead in the first inning. Miller drove in one when she doubled in the first inning.
Salem scored four runs in the second inning. Salem’s big inning was driven by a double by Hazel and a single by Dechalk.
Ally Cummings earned the win for Novi Wildcats Varsity. She tossed five innings, allowing eight runs, 12 hits, and striking out four. Overaitis took the loss for Salem. She threw five innings, surrendering ten runs, 13 hits, and striking out two.
Ashley Yarberry, Anna Mizerowski, Allison Purtell, Maria Gustitus, and Cummings each collected multiple hits for Novi Wildcats Varsity. Purtell and Yarberry each drove in three runs to lead Novi Wildcats Varsity. Novi Wildcats Varsity stole four bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Jaime Gustitus led the way with two.

In the night cap, Salem earned a split by beating the Wildcats 9-4.
